Our presenter Jason Roach, isa Florida native and is a Buckeye Bourbon House charter member with a mind for cocktails. At 28, he's been bartending for 10 years, and has been a mixologist for the past 4. In that short 4 years he's competed in various spirit competitions with moderate to high success. Though his love for Scotch continues to grow, his favorite spirits are Bourbon, Gin, and Brandy.

Technique and education are paramount in his approach to beverages and they shines through in his original creations. With a mind for food science, Jason continues to learn new methods and push the envelope. Precision and function are his major focus, but so is the sensory experience in each sip.

"Every day is a chance to taste something new", says Jason.

Jason will tell us about the Buckeye Bourbon House and we will enjoy and Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve Bourbon tasting!

    History of the Building 6:15pm – 7:00pm

Cleve Ricksecker will then share the history of the building. Cleve is president of SID Public Services Association, an organization that operates two special improvement districts in downtown Columbus.

Cleve served as Executive Director of the Riverfront Commons Corporation. He created a plan for developing the Scioto and Olentangy riverfronts in the downtown area that serves as a framework for projects currently being executed by the City of Columbus.

Cleve Ricksecker served as Executive Director of the Short North Business Association for five and a half years. There, he directed promotions for the Short North commercial district and forged a consensus among area stakeholders to pursue several, long-range projects. They included the country’s only speculative commercial development over an interstate highway and the creation of a special improvement district in the Short North that financed 17 iconic arches along the neighborhood’s commercial spine.

Before working in the Short North, Cleve managed the Columbus Arts Festival for and served in several capacities at Capital University Law School. Ricksecker is a licensed attorney and an urbanite who has lived 54 of his 64 years without a personal vehicle and whose children proudly attended Columbus City Schools.
